Torre Faro Village

The village of Torre del Faro, six miles up north of Messina, near Capo Peloro, has been developed around the church of Madonna della Lettera, rebuilt after the terrible earthquake of 1908 that destroyed the entire area of the Straits. This church testifies to the special reverence through the Virgin, very common in the town. According to religious believers the Virgin sent a written blessing message for the entire town, through Saint Paul the Apostle. For diving lovers, off the coast of this typical village of fishermen, besides the rich bottom of posidonie, it is possible to patrol the wreck of the ship Solferino, sunk at the beginning of twentieth century.
